Podcast 015: Try Something New

Podcast Episode 015 - Try Something New

Occasionally we get quite wrapped up in our main area of crafting. Right? Yet, other hobbies and interests in the creative fields call to us. You know, that “someday I want to learn” [fill in the blank] thought.

We’re all about sewing around here. But every once in a while we want to tackle something different. A different skill, a new craft. We humans are wildly creative and multi-faceted. Our lives would be boring to keep to one main focus.

Today I want to give you some inspiration and a kick in the pants to pursue that craft or hobby that continually calls to you but that you keep pushing away. Stop that! Let’s make a point to finally attempt it – no matter what level of success we achieve. It might very well stick with us for the rest of our lives or go into time out forever. At least you tried! Now get going – Cheers!

Every summer I pick up a new (or forgotten) craft. Often they are put down again when the holidays are over, but some stick with me for a long time.

  2. Beverly says:

I took a break from historical/theatrical sewing and wig making to be a full time hairstylist for the last 15 years. I closed my salon and I can’t wait to get back into creative projects again. Your podcast is exactly what I needed to hear today. Thank you!

ohm’gosh. i want to do sooo many things. you did touch a nerve when you said to not buy a bunch of stuff for something you’re not sure about. i have a room full of scrapbooking stuff but keep focussing on sewing. i do want to embroider some reticules, make some dancing slippers, bead a bodice and wrap some dorset buttons as well. then i have many other crafts waiting in the wings. it’s Pinterest’s fault! i’ll have to make a list and prioritize. guess i better get started.

  4. Patti-Ann Kubacki says:

I desperately wish to learn lace making. I watch videos and follow various sites. Just need to get my nerve up and do it. Thank you for the motivation.

    • Christel says:

yes! i want to make lace too. I saw it demonstrated at the Jane Austen Festival in Louiseville. I thought if a five year could do it then i could too. and i have put it off. you are farther than me since you have watched videos. go do it!
