Yay! So glad you pushed through to finish. And simply doing something creates that motivation to do more. 🙂

I was in the I-have-no-energy-or-brain first part of pregnancy (plus having two toddlers) and the sewing machine I’d always used was recently deceased, so I knew sewing anything would require me to learn the foibles of my new machine. Nope.

But finally I got some energy and brain back, and started with a simple project: a pair of baby hammocks similar to the Happy Hangup. All I had to do was hem some fabric and make two cushion covers, right? I’ll spare you the story of how complicated that got, between fabric choices and the new machine which does NOT have dual feed. Of course I was resistant to starting another project after that.

But I needed a pair of maternity pants. I can’t find rtw pants that fit me, ever. (I’m super picky about comfort since I made a few things for myself and found out how good fit feels– my downside to learning to sew.) So I took a pattern off an old pair of maternity pants that was close to ok. And I took 20 minutes here and 2 hours there, and argued with the dratted machine until I finished those pants last night.

And it sure is good to have something to wear that fits! I’m already thinking about poking through my absurd stash to find more fabric I can use for another pair of pants. Guess I’m over my not-sewing streak. 🙂
