Hi Angela,
Not really. A full-length Regency corset is to smooth the natural figure and lift & support the bust into the fashionably high placement. It was not designed to cinch in the waist as the waistline in Regency is right under the bust. A Victorian or Edwardian corset will have strong boning in the back for support there as well as be cut in such a way to cinch in the natural waistline. Also, a Victorian corset doesn’t make a waist smaller, per se, but re-shapes the figure.

Does it make the waist smaller over time?
Thank you Angela

Hi Laura,
The next session of this class will be hosted in September 2015. Registration will open very late August. If you want a class now, we just started the corset lessons in the Regency Corset & Chemise Class. If you want to join let me know and I will open up a spot for you. That class session will run through early October.

Hi Amanda,
Registration hasn’t opened yet so that’s why it is showing as “sold out” in the Old Petticoat Shop. No worries though! I hope to open it up for students on Wednesday 4/22 or Thursday 4/23 at the latest. An email will be sent to my newsletter subscribers so watch for that and also this page or the Shop page. It’s coming! 🙂 Looking forward to having you back in class!

I recently took part in your brilliant Regency corset class and am hoping to join you again with your Regency gown course. How do I go about purchasing the course as I cannot do so on this page and on your other page ‘old petticoat shop’ it appears to be sold out?? ; ( Look forward to hearing from you

Amanda
